Over Optimization Information and Criteria of Google

In our previous posts we write a lot about Search Engine Optimization. Many posts are about traffic generation of your website or blog or how it can help your blog or website. This post consist very healthy information about Over Optimization.
When your Website or blog is marked “too good” by Google, it means now its Over Optimized. This can be because of backlinks, or heavy on-page optimization. In other words when Search Engine like Google consider that your blog or website has crossed the acceptable limits. Then your blog or website will be restricted and red-flagged or penalized.

That's right, doing too much good things for your site is bad because it's unnatural. Although SEO helps to rank well in the search engines, one must rest assure that search engines don't like those manipulations.

Actually there is a very fine line between spamming and over optimization, and it is on this line that Google can appear to err. However, this is not a mistake by the search engine like Google – in reality, Search Engine calculates rankings by considering thousands of different factors – and a lot of importance is attached to average “trends” within the keyword / niche range that a blog or website is optimizing for.

What criteria does Search Engine like Google use?
You must understand that why Google can think about certain blog or website over-optimized, it is important to factor in the standard that Search Engine like Google uses to rank blog or website.

When you are fully indexing your blog or website, Search engine like Google does not just look at the optimization of the target blog or website. It is also compare the blog or website with all the other blog or website that fit in the same category or keyword or niche range. By comparing this Search Engine like Google can figure out the following:

  • Is this website "way more" optimized than the current top ranking websites?
  • In the past, have over-optimized websites been discovered as spam websites?
  • What are the trends / acceptable limits for well-optimized websites in this niche/keyword range?

Your blog or website maybe red flagged as being a potential spamming blog or website even though your only fault might be that you were “perfect” in optimizing your blog or website while your competition was left far behind.

Search Engine like Google takes both off-page and on-page optimization into account when checking for spam / optimization, and as such it watches out for over-optimization in all ranking factors – your backlinks and your tag optimization (header tags, title tags, meta tags) being most important.

A lot of what I am talking about becomes invalid if one tries any overt Search Engine like Google spamming techniques, such as stuffing your pages with keywords, white on white text (something I talked about in the first few lessons) or backlink spamming(building too many backlinks with the same anchor text in a short period.

But it is also possible that you have followed advice and still have your blog or website penalized for over-optimization.
